Lhasa-Gyantse-Shigatse-Tsedang Tour (8days)
After this trip, you can get a clear idea about not only the present but also the past of the Tibet region. The Potala Palace,the seat of successive Dalai Lamas, and the Yumbulakang Palace, the first palace ever bulit in Tibet region, together with the Monasteries are rich in both religious and cultural heritages. Besides, the natural sceneries are waiting for you to explore!

Day 01

Gonggar Airport-Tsedang

Activities: Drive to Tsedang upon arrival Lhasa. Rest to acclimatize the high altitude upon arrival Tsedang.

Meals: No

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

In the morning, fly to Gonggar Airport from Chengdu. Upon arrival, your local tour guide will meet you there. Then take another 3 hours driving covering 220 km to get to Tsedang, the cradle of Tibet culture. Then stay at the hotel for adapting to the high attitude. It is helpful to take things easy for the first few days, and try to drink some water just and now.

Day 02

Lhasa Sightseeing

Activities: Potala Palace, Johkang Monastery, Barkhor

Meals: Breakfast

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

After breakfast your ATT local guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the Potala Palace, a structure of massive portions. Its towering image already appearing on various occasions, but your first sight of the Potala will still be an awe-inspiring moment. It takes at least a good 2-hour to visit those rooms, halls and chapels..

After lunch your ATT local guide will lead you to have a view of the Johkang Monastery, the spiritual center of Tibet. Everyday, pilgrims from every corner of Tibet trek a long distance to the temple. The temple is the product of Han, Tibetan and Nepalese architectural techniques.

Then we will visit Barkhor, the oldest street surrounding Jokhang in a very traditional city in Tibet, and also a big free market with its prolific stalls for selling local specialties.

Day 03

Lhasa Sightseeing

Activities: Tibet Museum, Norbulingka, Sera monastery

Meals: Breakfast

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

After breakfast your ATT local guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the Tibet Museum. The museum covers an area of 23,508 square meters including the exhibition area of 10,451 square meters, equipped with modern facilities to ensure quality service for visitors and safety and efficient administration of the museum itself.

Then proceed to the nearby Norbulingka, the biggest man-made garden in Tibet.

After lunch you will pay a visit to Sera monastery, one of the three main monasteries of Gelug sect in Tibetan Buddhism. Then you can do the Sera Kora walk of about 1 hour and then catch the famous debate session of the monks before returning back to Lhasa.

Day 04

Lhasa -Shigatse

Activities: Yamdruk Yum Tso, Palgor Monastery

Meals: Breakfast

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

Drive from Lhasa to Shigatse (about 347km). On the way visit Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier and Palgor Monastery. Stay overnight in Shigatse.

- Yomdrok Lake: Within Langkamu county, with an area of 638 square km and a coastal line of 250 km.

- The Palgor Chorten: It is with 9 stories, 108 doors and 77 rooms. Each room contains a different statue of Buddha and the wall frescoes telling the story about it.

Day 05

Shigatse - Lhasa

Activities: Tashilumpo Monastery

Meals: Breakfast

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

Visit Tashilumpo Monastery, free market. Drive along the Yaluzangbu River back to Lhasa.

- Tashilhunpo Monastery: Painted in red and white, the buildings in the monastery stand closely together in terraced rows, offering a grand and majestic view.

Today's activities end.

 

Day 06

Lhasa to Tsedang

Activities: Yumbulhakang Palace, Tradruk Temple

Meals: Breakfast

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

Drive to Tsedang, capital of Shannan Prefecture (about 175km). Visit Yumbulhakang and Tradruk Temple.

- Yumbulhakang: the palace for the 1st tubo king niechi in the Yalong river valley. it is also called "the mosher and song holy hall".     

- The Tradruk Temple: on the east bank of the Yalong river in the district of Lhoka.

Today's activities end.

 

Day 07

Tsedang

Activities: Samye Monastey

Meals: Breakfast

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

Drive to Samye Monastey, (about 175km). Visit the Samye Monastery.

-Samye Monastery is located in Danang county, the north bank of Yarlung Tsampo River, 38km to Tsedang. This Monastery was built in accordance of an aspiration of king Trisong Detsan and the construction was directed by the famous Indian Masters Padmasambava and Shantarakshita.

Day 08

Tsedang - Lhasa Airport

Activities: transfer from hotel to airport

Meals: Breakfast

Transportation: Jingbei or Toyota 4500

Free at leisure until to be transferred to the airport in time for your flight to leave Tibet.

Today's activities end. Tour ends.

Note:

In this tour we will transfer you to Lhasa Airport from Tsedang, so you should choose leaving Lhasa by flight departure in the afternoon. If you you choose to leave Tibet by train or flights in the morning, please contact our travel advisor.
